Tips On Mounting A Bicycle Headlight

Bicycle headlight is very important illumination added to bikes that for one reason or another is unable to illuminate the bike sufficiently due to poor lighting. Usually the main purpose of bicycle headlight is to increase the visibility of the bicycle to other road users especially under conditions of bad night lighting. At night time when street lighting does not provide sufficient visibility to the rider, a bicycle headlight is an obvious choice to help people in their quest for a safe ride.

Most people are well aware that bicycle headlights have two main kinds: the vertical-mounted beam and the horizontal-mounted beam. Although it seems that they go on the same channel, the main difference between them lies in the location of the light lens within the headlight unit. While a vertical-mounted bicycle headlight has a single, focused light beam all the way from the bottom of the housing to the top, the horizontal-mounted light source has two beams of light which can each be focused onto different directions depending on the situation. For instance, if you are riding in a low-visibility road where street lighting provides very poor conditions then the horizontal beam will be directed on the right and left sides of the road ahead, whereas the right-hand-guided beam would be directed on the right and left sides of the road ahead.

There are some important points to note about using the bicycle headlight as compared to the standard headlight. When you are riding in a low-visibility road, you need to make sure that both of your eyes are facing the road ahead three feet in front of you, in other words, the bicycle headlight has to be aimed directly at the center of your bike’s rear wheel. The bicycle headlight beam should be at least 45 degrees to the right and left of the road ahead so that you can see the right side of the road ahead clearly. This also applies when you are riding at night when the road ahead is dark and you have to illuminate your path. Remember that it is also important to have the headlight beam aligned with the road ahead three feet in advance so that you do not accidentally illuminate it when you are riding. The bright lights make it easy for drivers to see you and it also helps them avoid an accident, which is one of the most common reasons why people get into accidents.
