A bicycle motor kit is a great way to get a bit more speed out of your pedal bike. Whether it’s for a commute or for some extra pep on the trails, these kits are simple enough to install yourself with a little time and effort.
The most popular and versatile bicycle motor is the hub motor. This can be mounted to almost any bicycle and it works well on either a front or rear wheel. This type of engine does not require any frame modifications and you can usually mount it to an old bike or even a newer one with a few minor adjustments.
You can use any standard bicycle chain with this type of motor and you can also use most standard gears. The only issue with these is that the motor sprocket has to be dead center in distance from the rear drive sprocket or you risk throwing the chain during operation. This may take some fiddling to make sure the magnets line up properly.

This means that there is lower electrical resistance between the magento coil and the spark plug and it makes for a better ignition. These motors can also be electric start and you can do this with the push of a button. They run at maximum power on a full tank of gas and can reach speeds up to 40mph.
